Bill was selected out of over 200 applicants by the City and County of Honolulu to paint the best beaches of Hawaii. The Art Commissioners chose which beaches were to be painted. See this collection to see what beaches they picked. Bill is proudest of this series to have been selected from a nationwide competetion to paint The Best Beaches by arguably the Best Beach Captiol of Hawaii!

The Lanikai Collection contains Bill's best seller, "High Tide." Here you will find many other paintings of the world famous beach. For the artist, this is where he learned to apply his formal art training (from the best art schools in the world) to showcase God's Glorious Creation starting with a one man show in Kailua in 1978 called "Lanikai Perspectives."

These works are the backdrop of the Braden's art studio built in the North Shore in 1985. Many of these are part of POSSE (Protect Our Surf Sites and Environment) project for which Jinny and Bill's company were chosen by the Oahu Surfrider Foundation to be the 2009 recipient of the John Kelly Environmental Company of the Year Award.

This collection shows more views of the coastline that connects Jinny and Bill's North Shore studio to their home studio on Kaneohe Bay and then beyond that to the south point of Oahu at Makapuu.

Though Bill and Jinny have been commissioned to paint extremely beautiful places by private citizens as well as various friends of the environment groups, being commissioned to paint Hanauma Bay, the jewel of Oahu, for the entrance to the Hanauma Bay Visitor's Center has become a creditial in establishing their brand as one of the best nature artist today. This collection contains four images of Hanauma Bay. Around the point from Hanauma Bay lies Portlock Point. The view from this area is also in this collection.

When the Bradens were presenting sites for the City and County Art Commissioner to choose, Waikiki was out of the question because of all the man made buildings. However, when the opportunity to showcase Waikiki in 1870 (before the high rise construction boom of the last 100+ years) the artist was elated to be commissioned to finally paint what was once the Best Beach of Hawaii. Other works from the Honolulu area are included.

From the commissioned view of Haleakala, Maui (original is available to fund Friends of Haleakala!) to other views of Maui, Kauai, Molokai, and The Big Island, Hawaii, this collection represents some of the work showing the outer islands of Hawaii.

Since 1984, when the artist were commissioned to paint views of just water (no sky, no beach, no foliage, etc.) for 2 high rise lobbies in Waikiki, this genre "mural style, modern format" work has been a super popular product line for the Bradens. Some are just water and reef, some just sky. Currently (2011) they are working on a series of just sand paintings.

Like the Best Beaches of Hawaii the idea for POSSE (Protect Our Surf Sites and Environment) project was to team up with a community group (in this case the International Surfrider Foundation) to showcase examples of beautiful places and thus help bring attention to the importance of our global treasures. In this case, with the help of the Freeman Foundation and the Pacific Arts Foundation we were able to depict these great places chosen by Surfrider Foundation Japan.

Bill Braden is available to paint large mural screens and these are some examples of his works. As you can see, his screens can give one a feeling of “you are there,” in the painting rather than in an enclosed room. Original screens are available as well as giclee copies.
